East Meets West!

We heard all the buzz around the new café/restaurant in town, and it’s one you won’t want to miss! East Tea Can is all everyone is talking about after it recently opened in the plaza off of Winston Churchill and Dundas. If you’re looking for a sophisticated and retro Middle Eastern café/restaurant, this is the place for you! East Tea Can offers a calming atmosphere that allows you to savour every bite while admiring the old-fashioned décor and antiques on display.

East Tea Can may appear to be only a café, however, they offer a full course. We’d suggest you get the cheese or meat Manakeesh (pizza-like pies) to start, with a side of their specialty colourful hummuses: Hummus, Bummus, Dummus, and Mouttabal. The hummus is topped with edible flowers, but they’re an acquired taste! Then, you can order a shawarma or beef plate that comes with your choice of fries or rice, pickles, pickled cabbage, chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, parsley, and pita bread. The chicken or beef comes on a skewer hanging from a rod attached to your plate, giving it a signature look that you will always attach to East Tea Can. A glass of lemonade made with fresh mint leaves is very refreshing in accompanying your meal.

If you’re looking for a dessert to hit the spot, we suggest you get their Kunafah, which is made with sweet cheese topped with crispy Kunafah dough and drizzled with a not-too-sweet syrup. To top your meal off, you can opt for one of their specialty teas that’ll have you coming back for another visit!

The atmosphere is classy and relaxed with great food and service. Be sure to check out more features on their Instagram: @eastteacan.
