Winds of Welcome • A Weekend with the beloved Prophet (SAW)
It is a common question we like to playfully ask one another; “If you could go back in time, what time in history would you choose?”
“Oh, I’d go back to the time of the Prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him)”, is a common wish – as images and conceptions fill our hearts and minds eye.
“That would be the greatest! I’d get to meet him and see him and spend a day with him and be among the sahabah (Allah be pleased with them). They were so lucky. That was the perfect time.”
And as we begin to reflect upon it, we begin to long for that reality and imagine how amazing it would be.
Just to see him,
and watch him move through the day.
Just to be with him,
and catch a moment of counsel from him
Just to catch a smile from him towards you.
Oh the joy 🙂
But you want to know something? So did he. So did our Prophet long for us. Deeply.
One day the blessed Prophet (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) was sitting with his companions and they noticed that he had been crying. The companions asked “What makes you cry, O Messenger of Allah?” And he replied, “I miss my brothers.”
Surprised they said, “Are we not your brothers, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “No, you are my companions. My brothers are those who come after me, and they believe in me without having seen me.”
This is you and I. The blessed Prophet longed for you and I.
Oh the joy :). Oh the honour. Oh the responsibility!
How do we ensure that we fulfill the responsibility of having believed in his prophet hood? That we live up to the honour that we are of his ummah, and the special connection we have with him? That his guiding beauty is a real part of our daily life? How do we ensure that our hereafter is in his company? That one day we can indeed be with him?
This attainment is only possible through our individual commitments to continuously know him, love him, and follow him. And thus reaping the rewards of all that is attached to that.
Indeed Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) instructs; “Say (O Muhammad, to mankind) – if you truly love Allah, then closely follow me, Allah will love you (make you beloved to Him) and forgive you your sins, and Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Ever Merciful” [Aal-Imran:31]
The key to following him is to love him, and the key to loving him is to know him, and that is where our personal connection begins.
This year’s convention is an opportunity to come together to study the blessed Prophet; his character, his relationships, his actions and decisions, his duas, his advice, the realities of his immense and pure faith, and his relationship with Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala).
Through this, we hope to gain closeness to him, and a motivating love to act with Prophetic guidance, embodying his example, character and wisdoms in all our actions, interactions, reactions and decisions.
The ISNA Canada Convention is truly a community affair, and that is where all the barakah lies. We sincerely invite you to join us this year and experience a weekend of learning, a weekend of love and laughter, a weekend of transformation and healing, a weekend together 🙂

But perhaps the best highlight is that this will be a weekend we spend with the Prophet. Our Prophet is the truest form of Islam. With this year’s convention, let us bring light and love to the world around us.
Let us each move forward in time and strive for jannah where we ask Allah in His Bounty to unite us with our blessed Prophet Muhammad as he waits for us around his hawd.
See you on Friday May 15th for a blessed weekend, inshaAllah![Hadith Source: Ad-Darami, At-Tabaraani, Al-Hakim]
